Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Trawl website (gettrawl.com), API, SDKs, MCP server, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Trawl is a unified content API that extracts structured text from 20+ publicly available internet sources, including YouTube, podcasts, TikTok, news sites, SEC filings, earnings calls, academic papers, and more. The Service is provided through a REST API, Python and JavaScript SDKs, an MCP server, and a web dashboard.
3. Account Registration
To access authenticated features, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password, or by signing in through Google or GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and API keys
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
4. Pricing and Billing
Trawl offers the following subscription tiers:
| Plan | Price | Requests/mo |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1,000 |
| Builder | $14/mo | 5,000 |
| Pro | $29/mo | 25,000 |
| Scale | $99/mo | 100,000 |
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.
5. Service Level and Support
- Free and Builder plans: No uptime SLA. Community support only.
- Pro plan: Email support at [email protected]. No formal SLA.
- Scale plan: Uptime SLA, dedicated support, and priority issue resolution. SLA details are provided in your Scale agreement.
We make reasonable efforts to maintain availability across all plans, but the Service is provided without guaranteed uptime unless you are on a Scale plan with an active SLA.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute the Trawl API itself (i.e., building a competing proxy or wrapper around our endpoints)
- Conduct denial-of-service attacks or deliberately overload the API beyond your plan limits
- Extract, store, or distribute content that is illegal under applicable law
- Circumvent rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or access controls
- Use the Service to harass, stalk, or harm any individual
- Impersonate Trawl or misrepresent your affiliation with us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these policies, with or without notice.
7. Content and Intellectual Property
7.1 Third-Party Content
Trawl extracts publicly available content from third-party sources. We do not own, endorse, or claim any rights over the content extracted through the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your use of extracted content complies with applicable copyright laws and the terms of the original source.
7.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you create, upload, or store through the Service (e.g., saved transcripts, API key labels). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the Service.
7.3 Trawl's Intellectual Property
The Trawl name, logo, API, SDKs, documentation, and website design are the intellectual property of Trawl. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without prior written permission, except as explicitly allowed by our API and SDK licenses.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Specifically:
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any third-party content extracted through the API.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
- Third-party sources may change their structure, availability, or terms at any time, which may affect the Service.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trawl shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill arising out of your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
10. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:
- Your API keys will be revoked immediately
- Access to stored transcripts and account data will be removed
- Any outstanding balance remains payable
You may terminate your account at any time by emailing [email protected].
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Trawl harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
12. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of the United States.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
